Charles Parkes III for U.S. Congress District 1

Parkes on The Issues...
"Time to hit the land mines..."

Here's where I stand on many issues:

~Government~
Government is duty bound to relinquish authority when not needed and only take power when offered by the people. Period.

~Border Security/Immigration~
We are a nation of immigrants founded by immigrants. If anyone should be saying who needs to go, it’s the Native Americans. That said, our immigration policy needs to be revised…strike that…overhauled. How? Well for starters, allowing our industries to have job banks available in foreign countries at our immigration centers and embassies. This combined with tighter standards on areas of entry will go a long way towards a better system. As to amnesty, well, there will have to be SOMETHING like it. We’ve already tried just sending them home - didn’t quite work, and nothing short of turning our border areas and ports of entry over to military control (including the use of imminent domain to seize private property) will stop illegal immigrants. Taking this into account, some form of amnesty is the lesser of two evils.

~Abortion~
If it’s not my child, it’s not my decision.

~Gay Marriage~
The First Amendment gives freedom of religion, the government recognizes marriage as a contract between two consenting adults, and (as of July 10th, 2009) the Episcopal Church of the United States allowed Bishops to bless same-sex unions. The Fourteenth Amendment DEMANDS equal recognition of marriage. Right or wrong, there is little room for interpretation when these facts are considered.

~The Election of Senators~
I believe anyone who wants to return the office of Senator back to state appointments has gone of the deep end at a dead run.

~Environmentalism~
If we were to tell businesses that it is okay to blow your resources and use poor management models, would it even take? Being environmentally minded means we are frugal with our resources. If we are frugal with our resources then we demand less resources from abroad, thus our economic sovereignty is secure.

~Animal treatment~
In the case of pet abuse and dog fighting, if we take these issues more seriously we may stop future serial killers and criminal king pins before they start. Animal control prevents some animal from becoming a community problem.

This is the type of the iceberg. There are many different issues that are important not listed here. If you want to know where I stand on other issues or want to discuss my stance in greater detail, please contact me on my POLITCAL Facebook page.
